“I told you so.”

The Dutch Parliament of 150 seats.

I wasn’t going to comment on this, but I have this weakness, where I like to tell people, especially stubborn ones, “I told you so!!” Not because I like to be right and show that they were wrong, but because I care about facts and truths.

So here’s my story. On 22 November last year, we had elections in Holland.

The whole country and the whole world was shocked by the outcome, myself included. Geert Wilders’ party, the PVV (Partij voor de Vrijheid), got the most votes, giving them 37 seats in parliament, which consists of 150 seats in total. Wilders and his party then began the process of negotiations with other political parties, to form a coalition government, as is the norm in Holland after elections. A coalition government in Holland needs to have at least 76 seats to form the government, so that they have the majority in parliament (75 seats, which is half, plus one seat). Wilders and his crew already got 37 seats, so they were almost half way there, they just needed another 39 seats, and then Wilders could take his seat as the new Prime Minister of the country.

Negotiations in Holland take notoriously long, never less than 6 months and sometimes last up to a year. Everyone expected the negotiations with Wilders’ party to take a long time. I did too. But only at first, due to the shock of him actually winning. But the more I thought about it, the more relieved and less worried I became. Let it be known: I am no fan of Geert Wilders. I think he is a racist, stupid, arrogant, spoilt, over-priviliged white male, who has no business being a politician. Yet here we are. Not only is this buffoon a politician, but his party actually won the most votes in the last elections. Go figure.

So the more I thought about what a crass, worthless human being Wilders is, the “happier” I became. So much so, that by mid-December, I had reached the happy conclusion that Wilders was too much of a buffoon to ever become the Prime Minister.

I don’t have any faith in politicians, including the Dutch ones, but I did have faith that they themselves, would not be stupid enough to agree to enter into a coalition with someone as despicable as Geert Wilders. Despicable as they themselves are, these politicians would have the good sense to tell Wilders, “congrats on winning the elections, but we aint gonna govern with you.

Politicians are survivors, and they would know that governing with Wilders, would mean the end of their political career and perhaps even their political party. Because, while Wilders did win the most votes, the fact remains that the majority of Dutch voters DID NOT vote for him. And that majority, that didn’t vote for him, detests him like I do.

So while everyone was worried and talking about the coalition formation and negotiations, a month after the elections, I clocked out and said, yeah, it aint gonna happen. Wilders aint gonna be the Prime Minister.

Once I had reached this happy conclusion, life was good again, and one day I found myself on the train, talking to two young couples who were travelling together, on vacation, as they did every year, they told me. They said they were very concerned about the election results. So I told them not to be. The four of them looked at me, puzzled, so I informed them that Geert Wilders will never, ever, ever be Prime Minister, because while there are indeed a lot of very stupid people in Holland who voted for him, there are more smart people who, not only didn’t vote for him, but who would not allow him to be their Prime Minister.

But more importantly, Geert Wilders had said so much stupid shit over the past 15 years; very racist stuff about tearing up and burning the holy Quran, about kicking out Dutch citizens of Moroccan descent, and generally being a racist asshole. Which means that if Holland did agree to make him the country’s Prime Minister, every single Muslim country in the world would kick out the Dutch ambassador and tell the rest of the embassy staff to pack their bags and head home, they are no longer welcome. You can’t have a Prime Minister with the track record that Wilders has and expect the world to take you seriously.

Yesterday, it was announced that Geert Wilders would no longer be leading the negotiations to form a government, and would “step down” from becoming prime minister.

I told you so!!

Most people who voted for Wilders, voted for him because of his racist, anti-immigrant stance, sadly enough. He stoked the flames of hatred, which, in the end, won him the elections, but lost him the position of prime minister, which is what his game was all about. He desperately wanted to be prime minister. How stupid was he, to think that talking shit about Muslims and brown people, would propel him to be the country’s prime minister??!!

So… it now looks like we’re going to need new elections yet again. What a joke this is all becoming! A very bad joke. The whole reason we had elections in the first place, on 22 November last year, was because the ruling coalition government could not agree on immigration policies, so the prime minister resigned. The elections we had before that, were also a result of the prime minister resigning, in January 2021, because of the fraud scandal which was perpetrated by his civil servants in the tax offices, against brown immigrants. These civil servants accused brown immigrants of not paying their taxes and claimed they owed thousands of Euros in tax money. As if that wasn’t bad enough, they then sent child protection services to remove brown children from their homes, claiming that the parents were financially unable to support the children, because of all the taxes they owed. Over 1750 brown children were forcibly removed from their families by child services in 2015. The exact number of children removed, is not known. In 2015, it was said to be 1250, it now stands at 1750 children. Some of those children have since been returned to their parents, but the majority have not, and the parents are, to this day, still trying to find out where their children are. No one knows. The current prime minister, who is also a nasty piece of shit, claims he does not know where the children are and that they are investigating where they could be. Everyone in government claims they do not know where the children are.

Holland has a serious problem with racism. It’s good that Wilders will not be prime minister, but that doesn’t actually solve the problem of the country’s rampant racism being perpetrated by an ugly, persistent minority.

Namasté.
